Customised promotional model vehicle specialists, Search Impex, are pleased to announce the release of a 1:50 scale DAF XF Euro 6 Super Space (4×2) tractor unit with 3 axle, refrigerated trailer, customised in the very well known livery of Scottish haulier Gibb’s of Fraserburgh.
The model has been produced exclusively for Search Impex by WSI Collectibles as a certificated Limited Edition (255 pieces).
Headed up by James Gibb (son of Jimmy Gibb – owner of the business together with his brother Tommy, until its closure back in 2002), the DAF XF is the second truck to go on the road since the start-up of Gibb’s again in 2016 and it joins the Volvo FH4 Globetrotter XL. The market will again be delighted to see that the new DAF has been customised very much in keeping with Gibb’s traditional and much loved livery.
It’s difficult to believe that 16 years have already passed by since, in the spring of 2002, Gibb’s of Fraserburgh announced it was to close its doors. It was a difficult and sad decision for the family because, although still in the black, margins in the business were poor and the view of the family was that the outlook for the road transport industry was far from rosy.
However, that was then and this is now – and the good news is that things have turned a corner. Having been careful never to rule out a return to the transport industry if conditions were right, that day came in 2016 – and Gibb’s are back and growing the business! Gibb’s already undertake continental work and the DAF truck, doubtless, will also be heading to France from time to time carrying fresh fish to earn its keep.
Models, available from Search Impex are priced at £147 each (including UK delivery & VAT) – but demand has been high and so they may already have sold out!
