SPV Group, a leading provider of high quality roofing, cladding and glazing solutions, is delighted to have taken delivery of a new Renault Trucks Range C with rear-mounted HMF 3220- K8 crane to add to its extensive fleet of vehicles.
The 26-tonne Range C 460 6×2 with sleeper cab, supplied by Renault Trucks Midlands on a full 3-year maintenance contract, has 22ft dropside body and drawbar configuration by Fred Smith & Sons Motor Bodies.
The Range C, fitted with twin fuel tanks for extended operating range, carries everything required for each job, including felt, cladding and roofing materials, to a wide range of flagship projects, such as hotels and shopping centres, across the UK. The rear-mounted HMF crane, which can lift one tonne to a maximum height of 25 metres, allows SPV to load materials straight onto the roof, saving on costs for hiring in additional plant, reduces manual handling and sets up sites more quickly for improved productivity.
The truck was carefully specified to meet SPV’s exacting requirements, as managing director Howard Evans explained: “Our driver, Adrian Kinsella, travels the length and breadth of the UK enabling us to undertake our contracts most effectively, so we wanted to ensure that the truck improved his working environment.” He added: “We worked closely with the team at Renault Trucks throughout the build to ensure that the truck not only meets the demands of our operation but also provides home-from-home comforts for Adrian, including microwave, television and fridge.”
The excellent eco credentials of the Range C’s Euro-6 engine, together with the truck’s improved load-carrying capacity to reduce the number of multidrops to site, were also factors in vehicle selection, helping to drive down SPV’s environmental impact.
Howard continued: “We also liaised with Fred Smith & Sons Motor Bodies and with HMF Cranes to ensure our new crane truck meets all our operational requirements. The truck is not only part of SPV’s long term investment strategy, it is essential for the efficient running of the business.
“It is indispensable for reducing logistics when setting up and clearing the sites we operate nationwide and it also reduces our requirement to hire in plant and equipment. Furthermore it offers significant safety benefits on site by reducing the need for manual handing and the associated risks that come alongside this.
“The new truck improves our running efficiency, it’s good on fuel and its exceptional load capacity ensures us a high degree of productivity and, perhaps most importantly, it’s exceeded Adrian’s expectations.”
